David Jared McDowell

Artist Bio

​

David Jared McDowell, is a visual multi-medium artist and owner of Burnt Marshwiggle Studio LLC, specializing in sculpture and leaded stained glass. He has a B.S. in ceramics from Indiana Wesleyan University with special independent study in sculpture and stained glass, and has undergone post-graduate studies in Art Education, as well as studies overseas in art history and photography through Kent State University.  

 

His studio at the Hub Art Factory is located in the Downtown Canton Arts District, where he has worked and resided for 10 years. Since 2015, McDowell has been the Artist-in-Residence and escape room designer at the Troll Hole Museum and Wisecracks Escape Room in Alliance, OH where his duties range from illustration and diorama exhibit creation to marketing and curatorial duties, as well as costume design and mascot performances.

 

McDowell receives frequent patronage from Arts in Stark with work frequently themed around local community history and identity, as well as numerous private commissions ranging from paintings and murals to stained-glass windows. In addition to his comprehensive teaching-artist background with Arts in Stark programs and former adjunct professorship of 3-D design at Malone University, McDowell is an experienced public speaker about his work both locally and internationally.
